We look all around us in the playground and find things to ask questions about.

Our digital microscope.

We can use our digital microscope inside and out. We look at all SORTS of things and make them come up on the computer or big screen. The best thing is live slaters and caterpillars because they move around like giants all over the wall of the classroom. We let them go when we've had a look. The microscope can come out of its stand and it is interesting to see what our gums look like when our baby teeth fall out at school!!We take the microscope outside when we really don't want to disturb something, like the big weta that the Room 5 boys found in the bark. Its easier and lots of fun to draw what we see when its so BIG and up on the wall screen.

Kiwiana

Our schoolwide topic this term has been 'Kiwiana'. We have looked at all those icons special to N.Z. Then, because the Olympic Games will start soon, we looked at the icons of China and compared the two countries.
We travelled to Midhirst on a big bus and put on a play about the N.Z. Olympic Team being in Beijing with all our Kiwiana on show.
At Midhirst the Juniors from 5 Rural schools all put on plays. They were all fun to watch.

We welcome Molly, Shaan, Julia, Joshua and Charlotte.
We have 15 people in our class

Do you remember our sunflowers?
Watch the slider to see how they grew over the holidays.
