2010's Big Day Out

We all went through to New Plymouth, 45 minutes drive north, for a great day at the Aquatic Centre. Mums, Dads, Grandmas and Grandpas, pe-schoolers and Aunties. we all had a super time in the inside pools with rope swings and hydroslides. The outside pools were used by the older children to formally show off their swimming skills. The diving pool was a favourite to the very end!!

Term 1, 2010

Term 1 has gone so quickly.
Swimming has been a big focus.
We had interschool swimming sports in at the Stratford covered pool.
We are going to the Aquatic Centre in New Plymouth for the day on Friday the 19th March. The whole school goes.

The Arts - Drama/Speech

In June we went by bus to Midhirst to join four other schools in a "Junior Play Day". We saw the five, six and seven year olds from all the schools in plays like "The Three Little Pigs", "Maui and the Sun.
We put on our own play called "The Living Museum" We dressed up as famous people. All of us made our own speeches about the life of our famous person and what they were famous for.

We love to dance!!

Room 1s School Garden

In early Summer, we made a vegetable garden in the lawn area by our school hall.
Mr and Mrs Coupe brought us some 'hay manure' from their calf pen to help our veges grow.
Mrs Hinton brought us some old silage to dig in. Our soil was nice and rich!!
FIRST we planted potatoes, carrots, corn, beans, silverbeet and radishes. We planted Marigolds all around the edge.Everything grew like mad! We had 15 breadbags of potatoes. We each took some home.
Next we planted Winter veges. We have red cabbages, green cabbages, kale, silverbeet, celery, cauliflower and broccoli growing. We will take some veges home to cook and eat at the end of term.
Soon we will do Spring planting.

We look all around us in the playground and find things to ask questions about.
